Jill Andrew nominated as the Ontario NDP candidate in Toronto–St. Paul’s

TORONTO - New Democrats in Toronto—St. Paul’s gathered on Saturday afternoon to nominate Jill Andrew as their candidate in the next provincial election.

“It has been an honour to serve our dynamic community of Toronto—St. Paul’s since 2018 at Queen’s Park,” said Andrew, a two-term MPP who has served as the Official Opposition Critic for Women’s Social & Economic Opportunity as well as Arts, Culture, and Heritage.

“St. Paul’s is home to many diverse communities, hard-working families, seniors who want to age in place, and neighbours always eager to support our local small businesses, – but after seven years of Doug Ford, our dollars aren’t going as far as they should. Many in our community are struggling to make ends meet and even finding a family doctor is impossible for too many. Our schools need proper supports, and no one should have to go hungry or sleep on the streets.”

Andrew has championed legislation to end hospital parking fees, ban abusive above guideline rent increases, declare Intimate Partner Violence an epidemic, improve indoor air quality and invest in Ontario's arts, culture and heritage workers. Jill’s also been a strong voice demanding transparency and accountability from Doug Ford for the years delayed and billions over budget Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

“Toronto–St. Paul’s has a strong voice with Jill as their MPP,” said Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP leader. “Her leadership has offered an invaluable perspective on some of the most critical issues of the day, from housing and homelessness to health care, equity, and social justice. I am proud to have Jill on our team, and I know that together we can deliver what people in Toronto and across Ontario deserve.”
