London MPPs condemn white nationalist demonstration in the city

LONDON – London MPPs Terence Kernaghan (London North Centre), Peggy Sattler (London West), and Teresa Armstrong (London–Fanshawe), have released the following statement on reports of a white nationalist demonstration held on the Wortley Road overpass this weekend:

“What happened on that bridge is disgusting and unacceptable and I am beyond disturbed by this reported white nationalist demonstration in our city. Hate, racism, and extremism have absolutely no place in London. What happened on that bridge was meant to intimidate, and Londoners deserve better than to have public spaces used to push dangerous, exclusionary ideologies,” said Kernaghan. “Every level of government and law enforcement must take these threats seriously. Our city must remain a place where everyone feels safe and welcomed.”

“Seeing masked extremist groups displaying white nationalist symbols in our community is beyond shocking and unacceptable. Londoners should never have to witness intimidation like this on their streets or in their neighbourhoods,” said Sattler. “These groups thrive on fear and division, and we reject that. London must remain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place for everyone.”

“Families across London deserve to feel safe in their neighbourhoods without the threat of hate groups gathering in public spaces. This rally is both frightening and infuriating and has no place in a community built on diversity, compassion, and respect,” said Armstrong. “These displays are intended to target and divide. I strongly condemn this activity and stand with every Londoner who rejects racism and extremism.”

The London NDP MPPs are calling for immediate, coordinated action to confront the rise of organized hate groups in Ontario. Londoners deserve safe streets, secure neighbourhoods, and a community that refuses to be intimidated. The Ontario NDP will continue to stand with Londoners against racism, white nationalism, and every attempt to divide or threaten communities.
